Creating and configuring DMS table spaces

With DMS, the database takes charge of space allocation for database objects, such as tables, indexes, and so on. The space is limited to the amount of space allocated for the container(s).

Benefits

In a nutshell, for large table spaces, DMS is the best choice:

Since space is pre allocated, DMS table spaces yield better performance than SMS table spaces, on large volumes of data
Container management is more flexible
