Preface

Setting up reports for optimal exporting


Most QuickBooks experts are already familiar with the ability of the software to export to Excel. However, some customizations may be needed in the Excel environment. This recipe includes a tool to eliminate repetitive structural customizations every time a report is exported to Excel.

Getting ready

Perform the following steps:

  1. 1. Create a report in QuickBooks, click on the Excel button, and then select Create New Worksheet.

  2. 2. Click on the Advanced button.

How to do it...

Perform the following steps:

  1. 1. Make your selections on the Advanced Excel Options pop-up box. The following screenshot represents my favorite export settings:

  2. 2. Click on OK. Please note that these options need to be set only once. The next time you export a report from QuickBooks to Excel, these settings will be present automatically, and there will not be any need to click on the Advanced button.
