Text usage and formatting

Working with text in Balsamiq can take some time getting used to. While Balsamiq does offer a fair amount of text control and some familiar formatting tools, it is not a word processor. As a result, there are some formatting tips specific to Balsamiq that you should become familiar with.

Let's get started by performing the following steps:

  1. 1. Open project_mockup_2.bmml.

  2. 2. Click on the name, George E. Smith, next to the profile image.

  3. 3. Press Enter/Return on your keyboard or double-click on the text widget to activate it.

This will turn the textbox into an editable area, as shown in the following screenshot:

  4. 4. Type a name into the text field or leave it as is.

  5. 5. Click anywhere outside the textbox to deactivate it.

You can also press the Esc key to perform the same action.

  6. 6. Using the Property Inspector's Text formatting tools, apply the following to George's name:

    • Bold

    • Align Left

    • Font size: 16

Feel free to change the color of the text too, using the color selector...
