Installation of .NET Core with Visual Studio 2017

To install .NET Core along with Visual Studio 2017, run the Visual Studio installer. If you have already installed Visual Studio 2017, you can modify the existing installation to install the .NET Core workload.

When the installer starts, you will see the following screen, where you can customize the workloads that you want to install. From the list, select .NET Core cross-platform development and click on Install to continue:

This will start the installation process. Once it completes, you may have to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Once the installation is successful, open a console window and type in the dotnet new command to populate your local .NET Core package cache, which will occur only once to improve the restore speed and enable offline access.
