In this chapter, we covered two important aspects in the BPM process: process analysis using simulation and process transformation for implementation. The concepts learnt in this chapter will help the business analysts and process stakeholders to carry out simulation studies on processes and identify potential improvements before they confirm the process as being ready for implementation. We have also seen how we can prepare a BPD to allow efficient transformation to BPEL. This chapter emphasized the importance of tools to extend support for some of the gaps in the current standards, and the importance of transformation to reduce the issues of synchronization and process round-trips. The tool support from Oracle and its extensions have significantly reduced the gaps in BPEL, and Oracle are supporting these custom extensions over and above BPMN.
