There is not a day in the life of a CISO where the CISO does not have to work hard on navigating difficult and demanding stakeholders, including Executive Management and the board. At times, the CISO will have conflicting requirements from different executive stakeholders.
Both executives and boards are becoming more concerned and vocal about cybersecurity as they themselves are also starting to be held more accountable by various regulators. There have been instances where regulators have written to a board and strongly recommended that their Chief Information Officer (CIO) and CISO is replaced with a new incumbent. This trend will only continue, and as a result, the role of the CISO will become increasingly more difficult.
