You should now have a good understanding of the power of Watson to understand your literature, how to use the Natural Language Understanding API to get that assessment from Watson, and how to use the Watson Knowledge Studio to build a custom model to help Watson understand the specifics of your domain.
Language is a complex thing. It is full of nuance, subtlety, innuendo, and metaphors. We take that complexity for granted—hardly even thinking about those details as we communicate with each other, especially through the medium of written language. Until now, there hasn't been a good way for a computer to understand any of that about our language. That's not to say that NLU will teach the computer deeper reasoning skills, but it is an enormous leap forward to have it at least recognize the things we say, the variations we may apply to saying them, and to use context to disambiguate different meanings.
