Preface

Sales and distribution

One of the top global pharmaceutical, biologic, and vaccine healthcare companies in North America made a decision to expand their vaccine's supply channel aggressively in northern regions. The business team identified various key sales channels that included effective e-commerce channels and quicker distribution and delivery channels. Therefore, the business and the IT department decided to expand the existing e-commerce portal to include the languages of target regions and effective shipment facilities. Oracle JD Edwards Sales Order Management module used to process the sales orders received through the e-commerce channels.

In addition, the business team also engaged with a major shipment service provider to maintain the warehouse at various locations so that the shipper can quickly deliver the products to the customers. There were various integration requirements that were identified including customer, product, and pricing data synchronization between JD Edwards and the e-commerce portal, order flow synchronization, shipping partner systems integration, and so on. One of the important integrations is the one between JD Edwards and shipment partner systems, so that the orders and shipment notice can be delivered to the shipper seamlessly. For this case study, we will focus on the approach followed to integrate JD Edwards with a third party shipment provider. Due to confidentiality, this case study will only analyze the approach and components used for this integration.
