In this recipe, we will be using MDX to run a calculation off an Aggregate Storage Option (ASO) database. Calculating an ASO database is a functionality that was not available in Essbase prior to version 11.1.2.x; as such, it is one of the more compelling reasons to upgrade from the previous versions. Although calculation in the ASO cube is a relatively new technology and does not have the breadth and depth of the BSO calculation script, it presents an exciting option to the traditional calculation options in the BSO cube.
