Chapter 5. Day 12 – Choosing the Roles and Meetings You Need

You are now close to your first day of Kanban. The only thing left to do is choose the right roles and meetings to adopt, in order to achieve a smooth application of Kanban. This could be a very short chapter, as Kanban does not prescribe any roles or meetings. It's even explicitly written in Kanban's foundational principles that you should initially not change the way of working or the roles.

Kanban's foundational principles are:

  • Start with what you do now

  • Agree to pursue evolutionary change

  • Initially, respect current roles, responsibilities, and job titles

  • Encourage acts of leadership at all levels

The reason for not changing is to minimize the risk of getting drawbacks in the middle of the change process.
