Where is Microsoft Lists data stored?

Despite being fully integrated, you will find data that is displayed in the lists being stored in different locations. Lists are stored in SharePoint, as we mentioned several times before, but depending on the type of list you select, they will end up in different locations:

  • Site/Team Lists: These lists are stored in the context of the SharePoint site where they are created, and the permissions for the list are inherited by default from the SharePoint site.
  • My Lists: My lists or personal lists are created on the user's site and are only accessible to the user who owns it.

List comments and attachments are the unstructured data inside lists as they do not follow any rule defined by the list schema. Despite their nature, the content of comments and attachments is stored in the list schema inside the SharePoint storage platform and is only directly accessible from the list context.
