If you have a large organization that is developing the web application, there are probably dedicated people who know all about installation and deployment on a web server. If you are in a small group, deploying on a hosted service, you probably do not have many options of customizing the server to your needs. In this section, there are some general points that will apply.
A vast majority of web applications are deployed on a server running some version of Unix and using an Apache web server. If you are using Java Servlets or JavaServer Pages, you will have additional configuration concerns, such as installing Tomcat or some other server supporting Java. You will need to know details of the specific server you are dealing with, which is outside the scope of this book.
