Data storage has to be considered for each of the cloud service models. IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS all need access to storage so they can provide services, but the type of storage technology used and the issues associated with each vary by service model. IaaS uses volume and object storage, whereas PaaS uses structured and unstructured storage. SaaS can use the widest array of storage types, including ephemeral, raw, and long-term storage.
