This chapter provided a foundation on CI concepts and introduced techniques for employing a successful CI server in a developer team. We looked at scripting tools and build tools. We discussed what a software build is, good practices to follow when creating a build script, and also some testing concepts, such as code coverage. The next chapter is on continuous delivery (CD), which is a natural extension to CI, and we will go into detail about the deployment pipeline, configuration management, deployment scripting, and the deployment ecosystem.
