In this chapter, we will be covering cloud-native environments. We will discuss the term itself, the communities behind it, and how containers, microservices, and serverless paradigms play a role in this ecosystem.
Because of the minor variations of the offerings between cloud service providers (CSPs), we will show architectures that depict the general concepts that apply to most cloud-native services.
We will highlight the role of microservices and serverless functions in an event-driven architecture and its benefits to an organization that would want to adopt this paradigm, especially with the advent of big data, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI).
Finally, we will cover an example of a cloud-native policy that depicts an architecture for a container as a service (CaaS), we will discuss the components used, and we'll consider the configuration of each service to support a policy using the framework...
