In this chapter, we had the chance to take a good look at the possibilities around automation processes with the App-V command lines and how we can introduce several new options with OSD scripting.

OSD scripting provides high scalability in our deployment scenarios, making it possible to interact and modify several components in our virtual environment, without the requirement of resequencing our applications. It also gives us the alternatives, to be aware of components outside the virtual environment, to facilitate user experience.

Even though handling an OSD could be very familiar for most IT professionals, since it is XML based, we have to be very careful with the options we are using; any change not properly introduced will most certainly cause application malfunctions or unavailability.
