OCA Oracle Database 11g: Database Administration I: A Real-World Certification Guide
By :
In this chapter, we installed the Oracle software needed to run an Oracle database. We looked at the hardware requirements for various systems, including Windows and Linux, as well as the operating system prerequisites. We explored the Oracle Universal Installer and looked at its capabilities. We examined the concept of environment variables in Oracle and viewed them in both Windows and Linux. We then stepped through the installation process, noting operating system differences as we moved ahead. Finally, we examined the results of our installation and briefly covered the process of de-installation. In our next chapter, we'll look at the concept of database creation and step through the process of creating our own database.
