Unconventional animations with deformers


Sometimes with a deformer, there's more than meets the eye. Because each formula has many unique properties we can animate to go along with their conventional properties, such as their coordinates, you can find alternate uses for them than their names would suggest. In this recipe, we'll take a look at the Bend deformer again and find a way to use it with some extreme values and come up with an animation that seemingly goes beyond creating a simple bend.

Getting ready

Open the Blueprint.c4d file from the C4D Content Pack and use it with this recipe.

How to do it...

  1. The objective with this file is to take the blueprint document that is flat on the table. Roll it up, and then unfurl it back to being flat on the table. As we've noticed throughout the chapter, deformers are great for altering the state of objects, so we will be creating an animation with our blueprint starting in the altered state and then returning to its original state.
