Summary
We started our discussion by reviewing the high-level IoT architecture and the embedded IoT protocol stack technologies, leading us to a review of the LTE network architecture that supports IoT devices. We then covered an overview of the common IoT devices with the associated use cases and concluded with a discussion of best practices when deploying your enterprise IoT solution. Overall, this chapter should provide the reader with a good understanding of the high-level IoT protocol stack, the LTE network architecture, and common IoT device types.
In the following chapters, we will introduce the most common IoT WLAN and WWAN technologies and provide a more detailed description of LTE and LTE LPWA technologies in the context of enterprise IoT solutions. Beginning with Chapter 5, Validating 5G with IoT, we will explore how to specifically leverage the latest 5G technology in the context of IoT and provide more insight into LTE/5G IoT solution devices, architectures,...
