Offensive Automotive Cybersecurity
By :
Throughout this book, we have explored a wide array of attack methods targeting the various components and interfaces of the modern vehicle, alongside the best practices necessary to mitigate them. However, as vehicle architectures evolve into software-defined vehicles (SDVs) centered around high-performance computing (HPC) platforms, an ad-hoc approach to security, often characterized as "patch and pray," is no longer sustainable. This reactionary mindset, where vulnerabilities are only addressed as they become imminent, offers no provable assurance that a system can remain resilient against increasingly sophisticated threats.
In this chapter, we pivot from the offensive domain to the defensive domain, emphasizing a systematic managed security approach. At the heart of this transition is the cybersecurity management system (CSMS), while acknowledging the role of Generative AI in accelerating and widening the scope of compliance.
