In this chapter we surveyed the offensive security tool ecosystem that supports penetration testing across the full connected vehicle stack. Rather than presenting tools in isolation, we organized them according to architectural layers and mapped them to the two operational phases that govern most real-world engagements: discovery and exploitation/validation. This perspective is important because the effectiveness of a penetration test rarely depends on a single powerful tool; instead, it emerges from the systematic orchestration of multiple tools that progressively transform an opaque system into one that is observable, measurable, and ultimately testable.
Across the vehicle backend, wireless interfaces, in-vehicle networks, ECU compute platforms, and sensor subsystems, a consistent pattern emerges.
