What does the future hold for Drupal Multimedia? Obviously, making predictions on any subject often leads to the possibility of future embarrassment for the author, when the predictions inevitably are underestimated or over-exaggerated. Still, they are fun to make.

To make this relevant, I, as an author shall attempt for the most part to stay with the possible near future. Some of these items are fairly certain, and may already be in place by the time you read this, such as the introduction of hook_file in the core. Others are more speculative. Though seemingly inevitable at the time of writing, new efforts and technologies could easily change their direction or introduce new revolutionary ideas.
