The course administration block

We'll look in greater detail at Course administration when we consider site administration as a whole in Chapter 8, Admin Issues. However, for now, it's useful to note that our student Emma, will still have a limited view in this block as she did in Moodle 1.9 (her grades) but that our teacher Stuart has more options than she had previously:

Very briefly, what's new is:

  • Completion tracking: If this is enabled, Stuart can set checks next to each activity so students can monitor their progress. This will be discussed in detail in Chapter 6, Managing the Learning Path
  • Users: This replaces the 1.9 Assign roles and is where Stuart or other teachers would enroll students, put them into groups, and check their permissions. This will be discussed in detail in Chapter 8, Admin Issues
  • Filters: It's now possible to have filters (such as multimedia filters/text filters, and so on) enabled or disabled in individual courses rather than globally for everyone...
