Summary

In this chapter, you downloaded and installed ExpressionEngine and glimpsed the Agile Records example website. We also changed where you log into the control panel, so that you can keep your renamed system directory a secret. You optionally used a .htaccess file to remove or rename the index.php that is otherwise part of every ExpressionEngine URL.

In the next chapter, you will get hands-on with ExpressionEngine and start exploring what it can do for you.

The key points to remember after working with this chapter are:

  • Your website can be accessed in a browser at http://localhost/

  • Your control panel can be accessed in a browser at http://localhost/admin.php (or at http://localhost/system/index.php)
