The name Mambel Fish is derived from the famous Babel Fish, which assumes translation duties in Douglas Adams' classic The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy. The name of search machine AltaVista's automatic translator, http://babelfish.altavista.com/, is also based on it.
