Overview of this book

You then gain an insight on the additional tools provided in Android Studio, namely the Software Development Kit (SDK) Manager, Android Virtual Device (AVD) Manager, and Javadoc.</p> <p>Finally, it helps you to familiarize yourself with the Help section in Android Studio that enables you to search for the help you might require in different scenarios.</p>

Project settings


You can navigate to the two dialogs that contain project settings using the following: File | Settings and File | Project Structure. Both are also available in the toolbar.

Select your project from the project view and navigate to the Settings menu in File. The left-hand-side panel of the Settings dialog displays a section named Project Settings [MyApplication]. Some important options are as follows:

  • Code Style: This configures the default code style scheme.

  • Compiler: This configures the Android DX compiler used when building our application.

  • File Encodings: This changes the file's encoding. The default encoding is UTF-8.

  • Gradle: This gives Gradle's configuration.

  • Language Injections: This adds or removes the available languages used in the editor.

  • Version Control: This configures the version control options. Version control will be explained in more detail in Chapter 6, Tools.
