Changing the page layout of a publishing site page

Rearranging the information on your publishing page is as simple as selecting a new page layout. This recipe shows you how to do so.

Getting ready

This recipe works for:

SharePoint 2010 Standard Edition
SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition
Office 365 (SharePoint Online)

This recipe uses the SharePoint "Adventure Works" example page created by the earlier Creating a new page on a publishing site recipe for illustration. The publishing sites you encounter in your own organizations may have been branded by professional web designers and look very different from the following screenshot. However, the same principles apply.

You will need Design or Full Control permission level to run this recipe.

How to do it...

Navigate to the page you wish to change the layout of.
From the Page ribbon, click on the Edit button.
On the Page ribbon, select the Page Layout icon.
From the drop-down list, select the layout you want to apply.
