Time for action – customizing the icon and copyright


We need to update the preference pane to use our custom icon and change the copyright information to indicate who developed the software. Let's begin by following the given steps:

  1. To delete the default icon, in the Xcode project navigator, right-click on the NewDefaults.tiff file and then press the Delete key on the keyboard. When Xcode asks if we want to move the file to the trash or only remove the reference to it, select Move to Trash as shown in the following screenshot:

  2. Use any imaging editing application to create a new icon image and export it as a TIFF file.

  3. Drag the new TIFF icon file into the Xcode project navigator. When Xcode asks us to Choose options for adding these files, click on the Finish button to accept the default options.

  4. Change the TARGETS setting for NewDefaults so that the Preference Pane icon filein the Info section is named NewDefaults with no extension (that is delete the .tiff extension) as shown in the following...
