Delivering the goods with Excel-based dashboards


Hidden in Dynamics GP are a set of pre-built Excel-based dashboards designed to give users an easy start to analyzing GP data. In this recipe, we'll look at how easy it is to use those dashboards.

Getting ready

Prior to using the prebuilt dashboards, refreshable Excel reports should be deployed and working. We cover how to do this in the Skipping the exports by using pre-built Excel reports recipe.

How to do it…

Once Excel reports are running, follow these steps:

  1. Select Purchasing from the Navigation pane. In the top section of the Navigation pane, select Excel Reports.

  2. Scroll down and double-click the Purchasing Dashboard report (it will be preceded by the company identifier. For our sample company it's T16R2Purchasing Dashboard)

  3. Excel will open displaying Purchasing Dashboard:

  4. From the Excel menu, select Data | Refresh All to force the report to bring in updated information from Dynamics GP.
