Gaining efficiency by printing or e-mailing any report with Word templates


Previous versions of Dynamics GP had limited e-mail capability for reports. Reports could be e-mailed in a text format. E-mailing PDFs required expensive, full versions of Adobe Acrobat. With Dynamics GP 2016 and the Word Template Generator, any report, not just those with prebuilt templates, can be rendered in Microsoft Word, making it easy to print or e-mail reports in Word or PDF format.

Getting ready

Prior to turning a report into a Word template, the Word Template Generator needs to be installed from the Dynamics GP installation media and Microsoft Word needs to be present on the same machine as Dynamics GP.

Additionally, a template needs to be created for that report. To create a template and assign it to a report, follow these steps:

  1. Print ANY Microsoft Dynamics GP report to an XML file.

  2. Save to your desktop or another easily accessible location:

  3. Left click, hold, and drag the file into the TemplateGenerator.EXE...
