Getting to know the Q&A feature


The Q&A feature on the Power BI service allows users to ask Power BI questions in natural language about the data in the datasets. The results will be displayed in a visual, which can be pinned to the dashboard. This feature takes advantage of the technology from Bing, Microsoft's search engine.

The Q&A feature uses the column names as key words for the searches. This enables the designer of the reports and dashboards to customize data to include wording that is natural in your own organization. If you call your customers clients, let the column name be clients. The dashboard consumers will not always be GP users, meaning they will not think to use the word customers; they'll enter Show Gross Margin by Client and not Show Gross Margin by Customer.
