Chapter 8: Schedule and Cost Management

In this chapter, we will review the knowledge areas of schedule management in the planning process group and planning cost. We will begin with the schedule management plan, which describes how to manage your schedule from creation to monitoring and controlling. Then, we will review how to define and sequence activities in a logical order to best estimate durations, as well as how to establish the project schedule and schedule baseline. On the cost side, we will review planning for cost management, estimating costs, and determining a budget and cost baseline. We will wrap up this chapter by looking at controlling schedules and costs, where we will compare the baseline to the project's performance and determine whether corrective action is needed.
