Introduction

Dynamics GP already has a lot of business intelligence options, some of which have been covered in this book. Excel, SQL Server Reporting Services, and Business Analyzer can all deliver dashboards and key performance indicators, but all of these options have limitations. None of them are particularly good at mobile delivery, selection of data can be complicated, and security, particularly for external access, can be difficult. Dynamics GP 2016 adds some modern business intelligence elements to provide more options for users. These include OData connections, which provide simpler discovery of data elements and easier security maintenance, and connections to Power BI, Microsoft's new, flagship, business intelligence offering.
