Extending datacenters to clouds using vCloud Connector

Now that we have seen and used VPNs to simply connect two different vCloud environments, let's explore how you can extend the boundaries of your on-premise datacenters to the public cloud using VMware vCloud Connector.

What is VMware vCloud Connector?

The VMware vCloud Connector is a free tool provided by VMware that helps administrators to create fully functional hybrid cloud environments. Using the vCloud Connector, IT administrators can facilitate orchestration and administration of their on-premise datacenters, as well as a VMware-backed public cloud using a single portal. It is essentially a tool which enables you to migrate your computing resources across vSphere and vCloud environments with ease.

vCloud Connector also enables you to transfer large amounts of data securely from your datacenters to vCloud Air using something called the Offline Data Transfer (ODT) service. Using ODT, you can export your data to an external storage...
