Storage groups

A storage group assigns tablespace containers to storage paths. These can be used to define the class of service for I/O. Storage groups help in segregating the different classes of storage available to the database system, such as Solid State Drives (SSD) (very fast disks), Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) (medium fast disks), and Serial ATA (SATA) (slow disks). Only automatic storage tablespaces can be assigned to storage groups. A storage group can have multiple tablespaces, but a tablespace can only be assigned to one storage group.

You can create a storage group by using the CREATE STOGROUP statement, as follows:

CREATE STOGROUP [StogrpName] ON ['StoragePath']
OVERHEAD [DeviceOverHead]
DEVICE READ RATE [DeviceReadRate]
DATA TAG [DataTag]
SET AS DEFAULT
