Db2 pureScale

The IBM Db2 cluster technology, called pureScale, was introduced in 2010, in v9.8. Leveraging the architecture and design principles of Db2 data sharing on Z, pureScale has rapidly become a technological force in delivering shared data performance and unparalleled scalability. Db2 pureScale is comprised of four major components, which are shown in the following diagram:

  • Members ( Db2 data sharing LPARS on Z)
  • Cluster caching facility (coupling facility on Z)
  • Shared disk storage
  • Cluster services and interconnect
