Monitoring performance using Task Manager


Along with Event Viewer, also Task Manager is another legacy utility that enables monitoring the processes, performance, app history, startup, users, and services running on Windows 10 devices. In addition, Task Manager lets you start and stop applications and background processes. Task Manager offers a Fewer details view and a More details view of the system. By default, the Task Manager opens to showing the running applications in Fewer details view. While most users may only be interested in fewer details view of Task Manager window, IT professionals might prefer the More details view as it offers more detailed information in each tab.

Accessing Task Manager

To access Task Manager and view real-time information about key system components of the computer system, complete the following steps:

  1. Press Windows key + R to open Run.
  2. Enter taskmgr.exe and press Enter.
  3. In the Task Manager window, in the lower-left corner select More details.
