I am sure the same thing has happened to you, too, such as when you have started your computer and the screen has come on, but the operating system did not? Of course, knowing that the OS is resident on the hard drive, we will instantly think that there is something wrong with the disk. To further reinforce our thinking, it is the Power-On Self-Test (POST) that displays an error message on the monitor that refers to a non-system disk, disk error, or missing a boot device. Although such a problem does not necessarily mean that the disk, as a physical component, is not functional, because it may be that the OS system files are corrupted. However, there is a general opinion that such a problem is categorized as a computer storage issue.
