EBS is an AWS block storage service that provides block-level, persistent storage volumes for EC2 instances. EBS volumes are a highly available and reliable storage solution. An EBS volume can be attached only to the EC2 instances running in the same AZ. It provides persistent storage and is independent from the EC2 instance.
