While responding to alerts and incidents is important to remove potential risks from your organization, arguably, the best way to limit the impact of security risks is to put the technologies and processes in place, addressing vulnerabilities as soon as possible before they’re exploited.

The Reports section of the Microsoft 365 Defender portal is a great way to get both high-level and very detailed information about the overall health of your environment, gaps identified in your defenses, and recommendations to protect your environment. To access the reports, navigate to the Microsoft 365 Defender portal (https://security.microsoft.com) and select Reports from the navigation menu, see Figure 7.23:
