Implementing Policies and Rules in Defender for Office 365

Before you dive into configuring policies, it’s important to understand the features and capabilities available across the Microsoft Defender for Office 365 service plans. MDO is available at three different subscription levels: Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1, Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2, and as part of Microsoft 365 E5 or Microsoft 365 E5 Security.

Note

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 was previously called Advanced Threat Protection. You shouldn’t see that reference on the current or future versions of the MS-102 exam, but it may periodically surface in Microsoft product documentation.
