Chapter 4. Using the Core Location and Watch Connectivity Frameworks

In this chapter, we will build a navigation tracking application for the iPhone and Apple Watch, leveraging both the Core Location and Watch Connectivity frameworks, so that you can share data between your iOS apps and the WatchKit extension.

While developing apps for Apple Watch, you will learn not only about the new layout controls, but also about how to customize these by interrogating their properties using the Attributes Inspector. You will become accustomed to the MapKit framework, which provides APIs to help developers integrate interactive mapping capabilities into their own applications. You will learn how to create annotation pin placeholders, and to represent these directly on the map.

Towards the end of the chapter, you will learn how to compile, build, and run the Watch Tracker application using your iPhone and Apple Watch to ensure that everything is working correctly.
