Planning for LDAP


Sametime 8.5.2 is completely dependent on using LDAP for authentication and for its directory. As we have indicated earlier in the chapter, you must use LDAP with Sametime 8.5.2. We will examine the following:

  • Choosing an LDAP source

  • Impact on existing Community Servers using Domino Directory

  • Considerations when using LDAP

All the Sametime server components require the use of an LDAP directory defined in the SSC.

The following are decisions to consider when selecting your LDAP source:

  • As the LDAP directory is core to everything Sametime does, select the best single source to use as your main directory.

  • You can define multiple LDAP directories but Sametime will use them all. You cannot securely isolate users from each other without building another Sametime environment and SSC.
