Installing a Bandwidth Manager Server


The Bandwidth Manager Server is installed as an accompaniment to the Media Server as it manages and controls the volume of traffic being generated by audio and video chats and meetings. It also requires a DB2 database and must be installed independently of the SSC and preferably in its own cell. The install files for the Bandwidth Manager are not available for independent download but are part of the Media Server download. Once the Media Server install files are extracted, the Bandwidth Manager files are found in a subdirectory called BandwidthManager. This subdirectory must be manually copied to the server you are installing Bandwidth Manager onto.

The Bandwidth Manager install is very different to the earlier server installs we have discussed, as there is no GUI installer for you to use. It includes the following steps:

  • Creation of a new DB2 database

  • Copying of install files to the new server

  • Manual editing of db2.properties file

  • Manual editing of websphere...
