Readers' challenge

Throughout this chapter, we identified a number of considerations when we test servers and their corresponding services:

  1. Review the information on Oracle, and build an Oracle server both on a Windows platform and a Linux platform and experiment with the different testing options. Remember to save the information for your future use.

  2. For this second challenge, build a Sharepoint Server, and once you have built it, experiment with the different methods for attacking a Sharepoint installation. We continue to see more and more enterprises using Sharepoint; therefore, it is essential we practice against this type of installation, and document everything that we discover works, so we can use them in our engagements.

This challenge will allow you to explore the obstacles that we continue to face with the deployment of a number of items that we are more than likely going to encounter in our testing. Have fun with it!
