Summary

Web development has taken its place as one of the most open platforms and in-demand fields today. Using web technologies, one can leverage the same skill set to build software targeting nearly every platform, be that microservices, serverless, desktop, mobile, browser, or IoT.

In this chapter, we reviewed some background and current development in the realm of the web while focusing on the cornerstones of web technologies — HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Additionally, we illustrated the Everyday Market app built throughout the book, and finished with a practical example of how one would implement a portion of that using jQuery.

Now that we have these fundamentals covered, we can begin the journey into modern frameworks and technologies in frontend web development. Next, we focus on TypeScript.
