In our conversations about courses, we compared the Blackboard Learn course shell to a home or apartment. These virtual spaces serve as a home to our instructors and students. However, they can allow or restrict access, just like their real-world counterparts. In the real world, we have keys or key cards to gain access, and in the virtual world we have enrollments and course roles, which control who can gain access and what they can access within Blackboard Learn and its courses.
