Without a doubt, the spreadsheet is the biggest competitor to PCM or any other contract management application. The great thing about a spreadsheets is "you can do anything you want with it." The worst thing about a spreadsheets is "you can do anything you want with them." While the spreadsheet is an incredible tool to crunch numbers and display data, it is the most overused tool on the planet.

The spreadsheet program started out as rows, columns, creating cells, with the ability to place formulas in cells to perform mathematical calculations. Today, that is about 10 percent or less of what the spreadsheet program can do.
