Preface

Adapting to the nature of your employees

The most important adaptations you will need to make are those that allow your employees to do their best work.

Remember that people have different natures and personalities, and that this has a substantial impact on how they work. Their personalities give them a "work style", just as managers need to develop a management style.

Having the insight to understand your employees' work styles and the flexibility to do what you can to allow them to act according to them will have several effects, chief among them that they will do better work, and that they will regard your office as a good place to be. Depriving people of their natural way of working makes them wish they were someplace else.
