Building dashboards in the Lightning Platform

Dashboards are used to visualize underlying report data and can help users to more easily understand how business information is changing and data trends are being impacted. The core elements of dashboards consist of source reports, dashboard filters, and dashboard components.

The source reports that are used to feed dashboards are the same reports that we covered earlier in this chapter and these source reports provide the data that is visualized in the dashboard components and each dashboard component has a single source report.

Although each dashboard component has a single source report, you can reuse reports in more than one dashboard component.

As an app builder, you will need to understand the building of dashboards in the Lightning Platform and, for the Certified Platform App Builder exam, it is important to understand the following terms:
